Deputy Darren Goforth Park
Goforth Park is a great addition to the Cypress park scene. At 188 acres and 3.3 miles of trails, it’s one of the larger options for greenery in the area.
The park pays tribute to Deputy Darren Goforth a police officer who was killed at Cypress gas station while refueling his vehicle.
On one side of the park is a dog park (separate fenced areas for big and small dogs), and on the other is a playground for kids. The two ends are connected by one long trail that surrounds the central lake. The playground entrance is off West Rd and Wheat Cross Dr. The dog park entrance is off Barker Cypress.
You can find people fishing, walking with their families, running, and spending time with their dogs and children here. If you’re the working out type, there’s also different workout benches and stations scattered around the lake trail.
The park tends to get pretty busy in the evening.
My biggest tip for this park developers is that it needs more covered seating! There’s only two covered tables on either sides of the park.
The park closes at dusk. The police/security guard will make an announcement on a speakerphone, and force you out.
