Discovery Green
Discovery Green is our favorite urban park! At approximately 12 acres, it is a good one to spend an hour or two at.
Attractions include a small lake (which offers kayaking in the summer and ice skating in the winter), restaurants, plenty of seating, a walking trail, art installation and a calendar of events.
Pro tip for parking: parking here can cost an arm and a leg in the garages (~$10 per hour). Metered parking is also available ($2 per hour). Free parking is available in Houston’s EaDo district, which is just a short walk to Discovery Green. We usually park near Truckyard and walk under the 59 bridge.
