Mandell Park
Mandell Park is a small, 1.22 acre park located within the Montrose District. Since it’s located on the corner of a busy intersection – off Richmond Ave and Mandell St, it can be a bit loud here. It’s not as calm and tranquil as I had initially expected, but the park is good for a casual stroll.
This one will only take a few minutes to walk through, but it features a nice garden (Meredith Gardens) and a small plot of land dedicated to the OG Houston ecosystem – the coastal prairie. Believe it or not, the native ecosystem for most of Houston consisted of fields of tall grass interspersed with the occasional oak tree. No palm trees or concrete roads in sight. The Mandell Prairie is a small for local wildlife. We greatly appreciate the efforts thr Mandell Prairie makes to provide a small habitat for local wildlife!
This park is run by a group of volunteers. Thank you to the Friends of Mandell Park for keeping the park clean and open to the public!
There is plenty of free parking is available on Bonnie Brae St.
