Market Square Park
Market Square Park is one of Houston’s oldest parks! It is the original Houston town center, first established in 1836! Today it is a small, 12-acre park located in downtown Houston featuring activities/events (pre-covid era), surrounding restaurants (including a Niko Niko’s cafe in the center of the park), plenty of tables to sit and hang out at, and a dog park.

Niko Nikos cafe 
Unfortunately, the hardest part of seeing this park is actually getting here. There’s a few metered street parking options (free after 6p on weekdays and all day Sunday) as well as a paid parking garage nearby, but it’s usually difficult to find a parking spot.
The park is caddy corner to the iconic “Houston is Inspired mural.” This is a photo op you don’t want to miss out on! If you do want to visit, make sure to come at an off-peak hour as parked cars often cover the wall.
